I read "The Virtue of Motherhood" by Teresa Botts in Teen Ink. It's a about a girl and her little sister, and their lives. I greatly enjoyed the imagery the author used; particularly the line, "I can see every frizz on her black curl as the sunlight comes in, decorating her face, almost like a halo." This could be used as the poster child for the infamous "show not tell" rule in writing. It also gives us descriptions of multiple things in detail, while still combining them into one.
